KAWHIA COTTAGE HOSPITAL.
ISOLATION WARD WANTED. <By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, this day. The Kawhia Medical Association re- ' ccntly wrote to the Health Department asking for the erection of an isolation ward at the Kawhia Cottage Hospital. The residents, it was pointed out, would probably subscribe £200 for the pw ipose, and if the Department eupple--1 merited this to the extent of £600, tin I Association estimated that free lalbour a suitable building coukl be erected. To thie letter Dr. Valintine replied that any moneys collected for snrih a . purpose would receive the usual srnbsidy of 24/ in the £, provided the money was given unconditionally as to benefits euch ac free treatment or preferential rates. ' When the communications came 6eforo the Waikato Hospital Board yes- . terday Mr. C. Johnstone thought j Kawhia had 'been treated very ivell and liberally, and that if the people had any money to spare they would do well to I forward it on to the Board. The Board considered that it had acted generously towards Kawhia in the past, and that it had not now eirf- . ficient money to proceed with the sug- . gested scheme.
