For that reason the iisn : wae sent from Whangarei by the Manaia, and was condemned on arrival. 1 Defendant claimed that was due to the 1 ice being unfit to use. Mr. Deightman, manager of the muni- : cipal tish market, stated that he oon--1 sidered the Hen and Chickens was too far away to fish in February when the ' weather ras so hot. This lot of fish was 1 brought down from Whangarei in loose ' bundle;; on the deck of the Manaia. ' In answer lo Mr. Dickson, witness ■ said old ice l-e-frozen was better than ■ fresh made.
