Lysnar, of Auckland, while in Kngland hopes to give lantern lectures for the Indian -Pandita Ramabai" Mission, also on 'New Zealand. She arrived at Southampton by the Ruahine, via Panama, on the :27th of March—a very good voyage, but very long—it was seven weeks and two days. It brought a quarter of a, million pounds worth ot butter —a million pounds worth of cargo. Mr. Sidney H. Best, of Auckland, is here on a business visit, accompanied toy .Mrs. Best, who will vi.sit relatives in Kngland and Ireland. They came per 5.6. Makura. and crossed from New York on the s.s. Baltic, arriving March 24th. Mr. Best hopes to leave for New Zealand early in August, but Mrs. Best will remain until the end of the cummer, and return after spending- some little time in Canada with friends in that Dominion. Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Oordner, of Christchurch, are still in London, and are now resident in Baling, at "The Elms," CastlebarTvoad. Sir John Salmond makes the interesting announcement that an offer of a number of scholarships for the B-A.K Cadet Force iias been received from Sir Charles Wakcfield, formerly Lord Mayor of 'London. Sir Charles has a special cJai'm on Xew Zealand interest, in that j l.c is a scion of the Wakefield family, famous in the annals of New Zealand's early settlers, and he takes a keen interest in everything pertaining to the Dominion. It was Sir Charles who provided invalid chairs and many other comforte for the Central Air Force Hospital during the -war. It is good to know that there is at least one publi> spirited individual ready to help a inueh-neg-lected cause. Major Kirkwood. who has arrived ia London to wind up the business ot transporting troops to and from Xew Zealand, will be attached to the New Zealand offices, 415, Strand. IMrs. Boswortli, of Auckland, is ia' London just now. and staying at 10, Randolph Road, Maida Vale. The will of the late Mr. Oeorge Randall Johnson, M.L.C, who died a,t Femton Court, Devon, last November, wbicii has just been proved, disposes ot "treasure on earth" to the value of £ lo".842, the net personalty; 'being £131.931.
