Jlrs. Ware, Portland Road, Eemuera, lad an afternoon tea on Friday. ; Mr. Alfred Whittaker left by the Atua for Sydney, en route to England, where he expects to join his sister (Mrs. lAJma Baker). On Friday evening a number of young people (about twenty couples) had a very happy time, dancing and music, at Mrs. O'Halloran's, Epsom Avenue. . Mrs. Sydney Nathan entertained a number of her friends at her residence, Indies' Mile, Eemuera, on Tuesday-after-noon. A most enjoyable afternoon was epent—bridge and afternoon tea. • Mr. and Mrs. Archie Clark and Mrs. Sidney George are at present staying at leura, in the Blue Mountains, N.S.W., »nd are thoroughly enjoying the change ■if climate. They do not expect to leave ■/tfoere till the end of the month. Mr. H. Worsp has sold his property at St. Helier's, and is going to live in Whangarei for tne present, where he has lought a residence. Mr. and Mrs. WeymoutTi, of Auckland, and Mr. and Mrs. Gilfillan, of Hamilton, are staying at Mon Desir (Hotel, Takapuna.

The members of the Navy League are celebrating the anniversary of Jutland Day next Monday evening by a eociai gathering in their rooms, as has Ween their custom ever since the first anniTereary of the great'battle of the North Sea.

The art circle of the Women'e Club waa addressed by Mrs. A. S. Boyd on Monday evening on the place woman had taken in art. The address, which was listened to with great interest, was keenly appreciated .by the members present. Amongst the visitors were Mias Dudley and her niece. M,iss Dudley-has been at Home for several years studying art.
