CANTERBURY. - - (By Telegraph.—-Special to 'iStar.") CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. The weather has been very changeable during the week, and a number of iorses are suffering from colds. Very little work hae been done toy the local horses in trainIng, tout there are still a few North Island horses here, and they keep matters on the track interesting. J. T. Jameson did not come back to Biccarton after the North Otago meeting. He went on to Wlngatut to-day. Dal Segno, which developed a. bad throat tron'ble, from which he showed little signs of recovering, was dispatched with the' friendly bullet the other day. Warlike and Listening Poet were attacked by the same mysterious disease, .but no serious results are anticipated. Both have been thrown out of work and will be spelled for some time. Coalition and Seadown, -which 'have been at Rleearton since the Ttoynl meeting, are doing good work, and may run well at 'Wingatui. Master Strowan and' Gang Aw»* are another pair likely to. make good at the Wingatui meeting. 'Sir George Clifford lias decided that none of his hones will race at ■ the Auckland Winter Meeting. ■ A couple may be taken. to Dunedin. The Dunedin J.C. Winter Meeting looks like being all the more successful through the wharf labourers declaring racing "black." Quite a number of horses, which should have been shifted to the North Island will now take part In the fixture. The schooling 'at Wingatui in consequence is of an Interesting nature, and the jumping particularly good. The Gisborne pair of visitors. All Talk and Dlavoh>. .belonging to Mr. V. J. torso**, «!«• Quartered by H. Htekey at Andrews' stable. Diavolo fell 'on Thursday morning, but it was not the horse's fault; a little enow had made the take off slippery. All Talk Is pleasing the track watchers. Qlanawaponga and 'Sllvereplre are a pair likely to cause a lot of trouble in the Dunedin Steeplechase. tßoth have been freepr supported lv doubles.
