A WELCOME TO SYDNEY.

SYDNEY, May 24.

The English Northern Union football team has arrived. Members express the opinion that the present team is better than the last that visited Australia, but they would have liked more weight in the backs, as there is great danger of injury to a small man -used to, the soft English grounds. The team was accorded I a civic reception, at which the manager said that he had been instructed that the practice of replacing an injured man in the first half of a match would be abandoned, and no injured man would be replaced.—(A. and "N.Z.
