MELBOURNE, May 24

Details of the proposals submitted by Mr. W.! M._Hughes to the Premiers' Conference for li uniform railway gauge show that it is intended to connect the State capitals, from Brisbane to Perth, with a 4ft Biin gauge, the States to contribute to the cost on a per capita basis, and the Commonwealth also contributing a*quota. It is proposed that the Commonwealth shall make arrangements for raising the money by issuing non-nego-tiable bonds for a fixed period.

A motion was carried recommending each Stat ( e to legislate for the control of air navigation, pending the passage of Commonwealth legislation.— (A. and N.Z. Cable.) «V
