ANTI-EXTREMIST SOCIALISTS.
VANCOUVER, May 14. A message from New York states: — "Tbe colour is fading from the Red Flag," is the comment of a leading newspaper, upon the victory of Victor Berger and Morris Hillquilt (the Socialist leaders) in the Socialist Convention,.in having persuaded the party to accept as a declaration of its principles that it would cut loose from the radical and hackneyed , declarations of the past, and in having forced through a platform that is far. from extreme by a vote of 103 to 33. Louis Engdahl, of Chicago, led the fight for the injection into the platform of a plank, forming an organisation of the proletariat to take over the control of the country during the transition period between the actual revolution and the establishment of the socialistic system. , -.-.., Oscar Ameriger received an ovation when he said that Engdahl's proposal was as useless as putting eggs under a ■ rooster, ■___■_,_._; _._■,.,._ ,•.. _ [
