A little comment has come from sundry lovers of the flesh-pots of existence because they seem to be unable to have oysters for supper now. As a natter of fact the season opened on May 1, but no pickers have yet been out, and consequently no oysters have yet been exposed for sale. Pickers have.been late in making up their, parties, but they will probably be going out to the oyster beds at Russell, the Great Barrier, and in the Gulf next week, and by the end of this months regular supplies will be coining in.' The closing date of the season will probably be October 31. The plate glass window of the Newmarket branch of Wheeler's Stores wu cracked this morning by a man slipping and falling against it. The damage to the window is auch as will require its entire replacement.
Excellent value in ladies', children's, and men's raincoats. latest styles; Auckland's lowest prices.—Smith ao4 Causey, Ltd., fjueea Street*—(Ad.),
