The great increase this year would necessitate a rate of 4d instead of 3d in the £. The assessment by the Auckland and Suburban Drainage Board is the same as last year, £2325. Notice was given by the Mayor to move the striking of the following ratee for the year on the ratable value of property in the borough:—l/ 4in the £ as a general rate, being Id higher than last year; 4d in the £ as a hospital rate; and 33d in the £ as a drainage rate. In addition to these a sanitation rate of lid in the £, and the various borough loan rates will also be etruek.
