liOCAXf BODIES IN CONFERENCE CITY PROPOSAL DISCUSSED. As a preliminarly to the conference that -Kill take plaice to-morrow night, between the Auckland City Council and the various local bodies coming within the tramway system, an informal meeting of the delegates from the suburban authorities was held in the Chamber of Commerce this afternoon. The meeting was for the purpose of discussing the schedule of the proposed increased trainfares to meet the post of recent increases in the wages and other higher charges in conection with the running of the trams; and at the outset members pressed for the proceedings to; be made public in the interest of the ratepayers. Eventually, however, the delegates decided to comply with the express wish of the City Council that the whole matter should be treated confidentially pending to-morrow night's conference, and the meeting was conducted in camera.
