A claim for wages came before Mr. .1. \V. Poynton, S.M., at the »Magistrate's Court this morning. Plaintiff, a grocer's assistant named William Charles Johnson (Mr. J. Y. VP! Dickson) claimed to recover from Beale Brothers, groeprs, Tauranga, one week's wages, £4, bonus of 4/ and £3 3/ cost of going to Tau--ranga. Plaintiff alleged that he was engaged by one of defendants to go to Ta'urangaat £4 per week. Plaintiff threw up a situation, and went to Tauranga, but did not get the position. The defence was that plaintiff had not been engaged, also that a letter was written telling him not to go to Tauranga. Plaintiff did not admit receiving the letter, and no copy was put in. His Worship said if a man misled another the one who was misled ought not to suffer. He considered plaintiff had made out hie case. Judgment was therefore given for the plaintiff for the amount claimed with costs.
