The fortnightly meeting of the Rirkenhead (Borough Couacll was held on Thursday night, when there were present the Mayor iMr. Jan. P. M.-Phalli and Messrs. A. Hadileld. P. C Hackhouse K. <;. Skeates, It. Weub, It. Taylor, E. C. Walton, John K. McPhall. A. E. Wood, and ijl. Koarduian. In reply to the Council's reque.-u that another up-to-date steamer be placed on the Birkenhead service, the Il>->onport Sleam Ferry Company lutluiate<l that a new Utciinier was In course of construction, and ! that when the vessel was completed It was proposed to run a steamer of Ule Alliatross type In conjunction with the s.s.
