ALLEGED MALPRACTICE.
PROSECUTION OK A WITNESS. ' (Itj- Tclee rri pb- ~ l'rcss Association.) DINKDIN, Friday. At a rp-trinl in Wellington in February last of Laync and N'eylon, for alleged malpractice, the principal Crown witness, (ilsulvs liatrhelnr. refused to give i*\ idenee. This Morning she was charged in the city Police Court that on September 13 last ghe permitted the use of an instrument. Chief Detective Bithop said the accused wan charged under the Crimes Act. On October (i her depositions were taken, before which she was warned that the evidence she gave might be used against her. The inspector of police, however. told her that if she spoke the truth t>hc would not be prosecuted on account of anything she said. She then made a statement, and later gave evidence at the trial, when Jhe jury disagreed. At the trial she gave evidence reluctantly. The result was itgnin a disagreement. The venue was changed to Wellington, and on February 22 she refused to give any evidence.
