STREET CROSSINGS.
(To the raiitor.l | Sir,—The marking-off of zones for the convenience of passengers -by trams, is all very good, but something should be done in the way of marking off the street crossings at points of congestion,! notably at the crossing between the Thames and Waverley Hotels, where it is a common sight to see drays and car;. dfl-wn up athwart the crossing waiting for the constable on "point" duty to signal, their advance. Hundreds of times a day j at the busiest times foot passengers} have to dodge round these movable ob-j structions to get to or from the railway. station or post office. If there is no hy-law against such obstruction there should be one, and the constable on duty should relentlessly order the drivers who | thus interfere with the foot traffic back| to the further side of the crossing.—l am, etc., BIPED.
