At the •Remuera ground, and Eden Park, the players, both senior and junior, mustered, but after waiting for an hour decided that the wickets were unlit for play, and abandoned the games. At North Shore the Shore and Eden teams made a start, but after an hour's play, during which Eden [lost three wickets for 49 runs, a thickening of the rain resulted in play being stopped for the day. The match for the Heathcote-Williams Shield, to be played at Auckland this week between the Auckland Grammar School and Palmerston North High School, will start at Eden Park on Thursday. It was originally intended to start on Wednesday, but, on account of the parliamentary poll falling on that day, the starting of the match has been delayed a day. INTER-COLLEGIATE MATCH. WIN FOR CHRIST'S COLLEGE. DUNEDIN, Saturday. The annual match between Christ's College (Caristchurch) and Otago Boys' High School was commenced yesterday, at Carlsbrook ground. The visitors batted first, and were disposed of for 71 runs. Otago •High School shaped rather worse, and were all out for 52 runs. Christ's College made a better showing in their second effort, and knocked up 12!) runs, leaving Otago 149 runs to get to win. The local lads started badly, losing three wickets for 12 runs before stumps were drawn. -Resuming, this morning, on a wicket that was dull after overnight rain, they carried their score to 119— 'Dickinson 62, Swinton 31. Sugden, Cowllshaw and -Pengelly each took two wickets for Christ's College, which won by 29 runs.
