OTAHUHU COUNCIL.
The Otahuhu Borough Council met last evening Owing to the absence of tbe Mayor, the choir was taken by the DeputyMayor, Mr. H. J. Hall. J For some time the trucks of stable manure have been left at the Otahuhu station, and some people have been carting the manure away during the daytime which is against the council's by-laws. 'In reply to a complaint from the councii the Department states that the matter will be considered; further, that anyone re'movin" manure during the hours than otherwise specific -I will be prosecuted. In regard to tbe proposed bridging of the Tamaki River, thereby linking up the districts on both banks of tbe river, an estimate of the cost of survey was submitted. The price of the preliminary work of preparation was £121, to be borne proportionately by the Otahuhu Couu.-il, East Tamaki Road Board, aud the Manukau fouuty Council. Tbe councii agreed to near Its share of the cost of the survey pluns. The threatened falling off of the water supply, which caused the setting of investigations into the matter, revealed the fact that if something was not done urgently the district would be short of a full supply of water. A letter was read from the llrm of J. J. Niven aud Co. submitting a price for the Installation of additional plant to obviate the danger referred to. The price submitted was agreed to. The price of £7a for the work of laying out the carriageways and footpaths at l.turges Park was accepted. To facilitate the transmitting of telephone messages the advisability of petitioning the Government to tbe effect that a slot telephone be Installed was agreed to. The foreman submitted a report on the proposed work in connection with the council's new quarry. The report stated that In the event of the necessary plant for the development of the quarry not being procurable that teuders be called for the cutting of 1000 ft of kerbs and pitchers and 1000 yds of spnwls. Another Item in the report recommended that work In connection with the formation of a 12ft carriageway nnd removing hill nnd tilling in of hollow in Water Street be proceeded with. The work was authorised to be done.
