Makgill admits that there is a slight recrudescence of influenza of the ordinary type. Annual show of the Agricultural and Pastoral Association was opened to-day at Campbell's Park, Epsom. Tomorrow is the third anniversary of Beatty's succession to the command of the Grand Fleet vice Jellicoe. Tlie new prison regulations for the treatment of Irish political offenders are causing further discontent in Ireland. Auckland Returned Soldiers' Association passed resolution last night disclaiming connection with any political party. Purchase of the Kamo Springs at estimated cost of £6000 for hospital purposes, approved by the Whangarei County Council. The dispute between the Auckland district committee and the headquarters of the Auckland Returned Soldiers' Association has been amicably settled. The Government candidate for Auckland Central, Mr. J. J. Thomas, was adjudged unfit to represent the electorate by an obstructive audience last night. Board of Trade now sitting in Auckland will investigate the sugar situation and also boot manufacturing industry connection with the standardisation scheme.
