a, (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, this day. Hamilton Chamber of Commerce resolution, asking the Council to reopen ! and renew the proposal for a gravitation v.atier supply from the Kaniwhaniwha i Stream at Pirongia Mountain, was dis--1 cussed by the Borough Council last night, when it was mentioned that the pre-war estimate for the gravitation scheme was i £73,000. Mayor W 7 atts said the Council could not at present consider the expense involved owing to it having already large | loan proposals before the borough. The letter was received. At the last meeting of the Council a deputation of sports delegates asked i that the sports membership of the Domain Board be increased from six to ; nine, and submitted the names of Messrs. E. W r ilson, W. G. Tabling, and Delamare. The Department of Lands -/so i wrote, asking if the Council concurred !in the appointment of Mr. Douglas Hay, the Board's nominee for a vacancy on the Council, and invited the Board to ! discuss the matter, but as there was no response from the latter, the committee decided to recommend that the membershin be increased by four members, and suggested Mr McKinnon (Deputy-Mayor) Tt was considered probable that the Board would resign in a body when they heard of the Council's action.
