DEVONPORT BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The ordinary meeting ot the Devonport Borough Council was held last night. There , were present: The Mayor (Mr. 11. S. W. , King) and Councillors J. Fletcher, W. Perry Taylor, J. Mays, G. V. Pearee, R. Splnley, and T. H. Palmer. The Mayor's report up to November 26 . was received. The report stated that In connection with the picture theatre posters brought before the notice of the last meeting of the Council Mr. John Poller had been Interviewed, and had promised to Inquire into the matter with a view to bringing about some improvement ln tne style of the posters exhibited in the borough. Acting upon the instructions of the 'Mayor, the Town Clerk had communicated with the Valuer-General as to the promised borough re-valuatlon. A satisfactory reply had been received. The report went on to say that a proposition had been received offering for a lease of a kiosk on the seattont adjacent Windsor .Reserve, If the Council would erect such a building. The report considered this worthy of the Council's consideration. It also recommended that In connection with two j vacant sections fronting Cheltenham Beach | negotiations with the owners should be eni tered into to secure these sections for the purpose of erecting bathing shed uccoinmoIdatlon. The report was adopted. A letter having been received from the Waitemata Chamber of Commerce with rejgard to the advantage or otherwise of setting up n Fire Board at Devonport, the Mayor said that the Council was ready to agree that the present Are brigade service in Devonport was Inadequate.
