BURDENSOME TITLE.
LORD ASTOB DISAPPOINTED. LONDON, October 27. .Lord Astor is keenly desirous of continuing his career in the House of Commons and his work at the Ministry' of Health. He consulted the Governments law officers as to the possibility of transferring the peerage to another member of the family. Jt is understood, however, that the law officers decided that it was impossible to divest him of the title, this decision following the precedent in Lord Selborne's case. As Mr. Waldorf Astor, Lord Astor represented Sutton, a Plymouth constituency, in the House of Commons. When his father died recently, Lord Astor succeeded to the title, and, being J raised to the peerage, lost his seat in the House of Commons. Recent cables stated that his wife, Lady Astor, had been accepted as the Conservative candidate for the vacant seat.
