Previous legislation gave members of the service right of appeal but not to the extent they desired it—for it to apply as from April Ist of thi ß yeir ;This moved the men to action, and thi ■ ■ first results of their endeavours wag- ' communicated to one of the Auckland officials yesterday, to th e effect that an amendment, which is now law, provide!j for the power asked for. The men will now no doubt lose no ■' Uimc in taking full advantage of it They can now appeal in respect to ■ salaries and promotions made since April ;
