t- M „-, UPPER SYMONDS ST. ENTERPRISE. The spirit of progress which marks' the business centre of Upper Symonds St. is shortly to be further emphasised. It is not long since sin association* was formed for advocating the claims of this growing centre, and the special advertisements which appear in the "Star" every Thursday are an index to its activities. More recently Symonds Street shopkeepers have joined in community, subscriptions for the erection of an electric sign which will bo the largest in New Zealand. It will be displayed around the large clock which was "imported for the Auckland Exhibition. This clock is almost the size of the clock ou the New Zealand Insurance Building in Queen Street. The' construction of the sign fs progressing, and jts erection will take place shortly. It will be placed on such a location as to be visible to passengers going to or returning from the city on every tram route which • converges on Symonds Street at the junction with Khyber Pass.—(Ad.)
