LABOUR'S FESTIVAL
.HE PROCESSION AND SPORTS. MANY OTHER ATTRACTIONS. ENHANCED FERRY SERVICES. From all accounts the Labour Day jelebrations on Monday are going to be nore animated than oh any of the abour festivals for the last half decade, the procession will assemble at the foot )f Queen Street, and at ten o'clock in ;he morning it is due to go up the main street to the Domain via Wellesley, [tobson, aud Pitt Streets, and Karanga:iape Road. The entrants for all tho liiTerent displays represent almott every trade union in exitencvo here, and the lecorated vehicles, the humorous turnouts, and all the hundred and one other things typical of a monster procession ire said* to be all keen to take their share of the generous prizes. THE SPORTS. The sports commence on the Domain it noon, and here, again, the competitors in tha many events are more numerous than for many a year. A monster baby show is to be a feature of the afternoon's hilarity, and the many events, lithletic and otherwise, have been carefully considered so as 1 to provide something for everybody, whatever tastes they may -have. • The national dancing competitions have . attracted record entries, and indeed the £350 worth ol prizes in cash and trophies that are oh offer for the sports and procession have made a keenness of competition that has seldom been surpassed. It is necessary for all competitors in the procession to be at the foot of Queen Street by half-past eight, as then the judging commences. OTHER ARRANGEMENTS. Every indication points to a continuation of the present spell of glorious weather, so people are confidently expecting a fine day on Labour Day. Tha Auckland Golf Club is to hold a one-club competition in the morning, and a four-ball-hest-ball bogey match in the afternoon. Practically every bowling green will be the scene for tournaments among the enthusiasts of the biassed ball, while the members of the Motor Cycle Club will go for a spin together, and a cricket match between Grafton and North Shore has been arranged to be commenced on the Devonport Domain. STEAMERS AND RAILWAY. Tlie Railways Department notify alterations in the suburban services-for the day, while the'harbour service's" are to tS> *-a r u|fh-BA-_- Ver}'.' considerably.! Ferry boats will run to all the manywaterside resorts, the Devonport Ferry Company having arranged a complete revision of the normal time-table so as to suit the convenience of all who wish to spend their holiday by the sea. The day is to be a close holiday practically everywhere, and the attractions are so many and so varied that merry-.: makers wilh:bfiabJ(viD7s-->.ust where they wish, and enjoy themselves just as they want.
