WIDOWS' PENSIONS. At the usual meeting of the 'Auckland District Woman's Christian Temperance Union, the subjects'of widows' pensions was discussed, and it was decided "to urge che Government to deal with the ordinary widows' pensions this session; and futher urge that they be placed on the same basis as the epidemic widows' pensions in order that there may be no necessity for a mother to either leave her young children to go ont to work or to have to resort to charitable aid for assistance." The meeting expressed pleasure at the decision of the Returned .Soldiers' Association to vote against liquor being sold in their clubs.
