EXPLOSION AT WAIHI.

TWO MEX INJURED. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent) WAIHI, this day. A peculiar accident occurred in the refinery department of the Waihi Company's plant yesterday, whereby two of the company's official-, Mr. Walter Ridings, and Mr. E. J. Scoblc, were severely scalded. It appears that both men were in the act of tipping a truck full of slag from the furnace into n trough when, an explosion occurred.* The force of the concussion flung Mr. Scoblc through a door, hot water scalding him on the legs and thighs. Mr. Ridings was thrown against a furnace and was •burned about the arm. Mr. Scoble's injuries necessitated his removal to the hospital. Mr. Ridings was conveyed to his home, and is now confined to his house. I understand it is difficult to account for the cause of the explosion.
