The Labour Group withdrew from the Industrial Conference following on the. rejection by the employers' group of Mr. Samuel Gompers' resolution recognising Labour's right to collective bargaining. The chairman, Mr. Franklin Lane, Secretary for the Interior, read the letter from Mr. W. B. Wilson, Secretary for Labour, stating that the conference must reach a common ground of understanding, otherwise it would not be allowed to break up, new groups being appointed in the event of members withdrawing.— (A. and N.Z. Cable.) RENEWED RIOTING AT PITTSBURG. NEW YORK, October 23. i There has been renewed rioting at Pittsburg among the Carnegie steel plant workmen, the strikers, and their sympathisers.
