A SPECIAL LOAN. j TO BORROW £0,830,000. WELLINGTON} Thursday. The Loan Bill in connection with hydroelectric development, introduced to-night, authorises the Minister of Finance to borrow £0,830,000 for carrying out schemes indicated in the Public Works .Statement, including the purchase of the Ilorahora works from tlie Waihi Gold Mining Company, which will be paid for in debentures, not less than 5 per cent interest being payable. The total amount ■ s allocated thus: — Arapuni scheme, £4,500,000. Mangahao, £1,000,000. Lake Coleridge extension, £257,500. Ilorahora purchase, .-212,500. j Horahora extension, £200,000. Waikaremoana scheme surveys, £30,000. Otago .scheme surveys. .00.000. | The Minister of Public Works explained that he was securing authority iin the bill to borrow enough to complete • Ucliemes in baud.
