SPRING MEETING CONCLUDED. INTERESTING RACIXG. ORCARANXJI WINS HANDICAP. The Auckland Trotting Club's Spring Meeting was concluded st Alexandra Park yesterday afternoon in fine weather and with a record attendance. The track was in good order. The racing was decidedly interesting throughout, the principal event, the Alexandra Handicap, being won by Oruaranßi by half a length from Lord Rose, with the favourite. Star Queen, third. As on the opening day. the management of the gathering by. the various officials under the secretary. Mr. C. p. Mark, was highly satisfactory, the last event being got off rlgJit on advertised time. THE STEWARDS. After the race for the Junction Handicap, the stewards held an inquiry Into some alleged interference between Kewpie and Te Awa, with the result that they decided i to distance Kewpie, placing T e Awa c first and Kemppey second. The favourite began well and got Iv front after they had gone half a mile, and was well clear entering the last round. The latter, however, always had a bit the better of it, winning at the fli'ish by three lengths, -while Flora Dillon got third, twenty lengths away, just in front of Mint Boy. HALF A HEAD VICTORY. The six acceptors came out for the Alexlandra Handicap, Star Queen winding up ■ favourite, but Oruarangi. Lord Rose, and <rold Girl were entrusted with very solid sirpport, and I'ltlroa und Trooper Dillon had : plenty friends. The race gave rlee t o an interesting contest. Trooper Dillon aud litlroa made the running In company for half the journey, then Star Queen aud Oruarangl went out in front, while entering the last half mile Lord Rose ran Into third position. Star Queen had Oruarangi on the ouulde and held htm until they turned into the straight, where the favourite fell away beaten, and Oruarangi drew out, only to be immediately challenged by Lord Rose. The latter finished strongly, hut Oruarangi just managed to stall hhn off, winning in an exciting finish by half a head. The favourite got third, eight lengths away, with Pltiroa aud Trooper Dillon nest and ■Gold G-lrl lust. AN EXCITING FINISH. The six acceptors came out for the Remuera Handicap, which was a good betting race. Itronze Patch finished up favourite, eighty odd pounds better fancied than Hint, which carried about the same amount more than King Capitalist, with Gold Hoy nearly as well backed as the lastnamed, while Auckland Girl and Billy Parole were not neglected. Bronze Patch in the early stages and fell away last. With the last round entered on the field closed . m>, Bronze Patch being just in front of King Capitalist aud Hint, the others being I handy. King Capitalist; lost his position : going out of the straight, then Hint ran up second, while King Capitalist was got i down again, aud was third.
