COAL-CARRYING STEAMERS.
(By Te>graph.—Special to "Star.") WELLINGTON, Wedaesdar.' Urgent representations have been made "by the Government to the Union Steamship Company to place all steamsrs suitable for the carriage of coal in the Newcastle trade, states Mr.- ilasseyj who adds that the steamers IvaitangaiS and Ivaiapoi, intended to lift generai cargo at Melbourne for Zealand ports, have been diverted for the carriage of coal to ahe Dominion. With reference to the Waihora, Kurow, and Wairuna, all of which are registered outside the. Dominion, the strongly protested against these steamers beinj placed in the Pacific trade, but regulations have now been drawn up which will give the Government full control over all tonnage trading in New Zealand waters. Arrangements have T>een made to place the new steamer Kaiwarr* in the 'Newcastle run on lier arrival il Xew Zealand waters.
