PRESENTATIONS TO THE WAR I COLLECTIONS. j During the previous six weeks a con-j sideruble number of articles have been i presented to the Museum by returned soldiers and others, among "which the' following deserve mention. Colonel I Bosenwcn has contributed, on behalf ot his son. Captain 80.-cawen, a shell fired at tbe Turkish lines at Gallipoli; the latest pattern of gas masks used at the Western front: a knife made by a Orm.in soldier from a British bayonet: emergency splints und bandages a.-, issued to the German troops on tho| Western front; a Cernian soldier's pay-1 book, etc. Major 0. S. Cheeseman has presented the following articles, all obtained in Palestine:—A pair of Mills! bombs, ns issued to the British forces, during the w»r : a Turkish field telephone taken at the capture of Xl .Amman-, Turkish enrtonch-box obtained at! the battle of Birel-Abd; bridle taken I from the horse of the Turkish Commandant at El Amman; Cernian war newspapers and other documents taken from j the German Consulate at Jaffa; knite with handle of cinnel's bone taken from I hostile Bedouins; Cernian pay-book and letters; Cernian atlas and medical ther-i mometor: numerous other articles. Mr. .1. D. Whitcombe has donated a 4-in. shrapnel shell taken by a landing party from H.M*. Philomel from a Turkish trench by the side of the Suez ('anal. He also presents the house flag of the German motor schooner Klfriede. the last German commercial craft sailing in the Eastern Pacific. The Klfriede was captured by H.M.s. Encounter in the Tongan Group, on April 2oth, 11)15. In addition to the above, the Museum has received an intimation, through the Minister of Internal Affairs, that H.R.H. the Princess Mary will shortly present a gift from her Sailors' nnd Soldiers' Christmas'' Fund to the principal Museums of the Empire, consisting of an embossed brass box, a bullet pencil case, a New Year's card, nnd a smill photograph of Her Royal Highness, being similar to those distributed to all soldiers and sailors at the front on Christmas Day, 1014.
