THE MOTOR CYCLE.
(To tte Editor.) Sir,—l saw a paragraph in your paper of Ootober 15th, on the advisability of the Council bringing in a by-law prohibiting a motor-cyclist from carrying a passenger on the back'of hie machine. I have ridden a motor-cycle for some time, and know that the added weight of a passenger makes one lees liable to skid, and, far from making the machine unstable, steadies it. Therefore I contend that ac riding alone ie cafe, carrying a passenger is equally, if not more safe, and should not be restricted. The fact that city councils of other towns, such as Neleon, have framed this by-law, should not necessarily mean that Auckland ehould follow in their footsteps. It would be more to the point if the City Council enforced the by-laws re drivers' licences.—l am, etc., * MOTOR-CYCLIST.
