OTAGO BEATS AUCKLAND. . The telegraphic chess match between teams from the Auckland and Otago clubs, which was begun a week ago, was finished on Saturday evening. A number of unfinished games have yet to be referred to Wellington for adjudication, but the result is practically a pronounced win for the Southern players. The games . Adams, unfinished; 9. Amtraan v. Hemus, win for Otago; 10, Wright »• Sim, win for Otago; 11. Ward v. Davidson, unfinished; 12, Allen v. Senior, win ! for Auckland; 13, Henderson v. Putman, win for Otago; 14, Warman v. Barker, win for Auckland. Mr. Mackenzie was telegraph operator. The umpires were I -Mr. F. Harvey lor Auckland and Mr. C. ■ Watson for Otago, and the scrutineers .I at Auckland were Messrs. flail and Sup Jlivaa.
