(Kj Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) SHANNON, Saturday. A deputation from Taringamotu was introduced to the Minister of Lands last night by Mr. \V. T. Jennings, who on several occasions this session asked why f block of 100.000 acres of Crown land east of Ongarue was not thrown open for selection by returned soldiers. The Epcakers were the Rev. Alonfries and Air. I.aird (ex-Mayor of Taumarunui). The Minister replied that he was hard pressed to find land for soldiers, and promised to have a survey made at once, so as to get access to tho block, which is approachable from Ongarue aud Taringamotu. This land is suitable, presenting no roading difficulty, and the survey of the block has been in the hands of Messrs. Carroll and Dunn, for the past four years.
