WHANGAREI COURT CASES.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, this day. Tn the Whangarei Magistrate's Court, before Mr. F. 11. Levien, S.M., to-day, Inspector Hollows proceeded against H. Wilkinson, baker, of Kamo, for a breach of the Awards Act in not keeping a proper wages and overtime book. No suggestion was made as to nonpayment of award wages, only failure to keep book properly entered up. Taking this into consideration the magistrate entered a conviction and imposed a fine of CI with costs. A similar charge was preferred by, Inspector Norwood against A. Weir, butcher, of Moewhare, for failing to keep a proper wages and overtime book. Defendant pleaded guilty to a technical breach, but as he had been previously | warned the magistrate convicted and I lined him £2, with £1 1/ costs. I For a breach of the ' Whangarei Borough Council by-laws Ur. K. A. Good 1 | (Mr. E. 0. Stout), charged with furiously [ driving a motor car in Bank Street on the 10th September, was preceded j against, by the borough inspector, Mr. jI. W. Moore ( for whom Mr. Born appeared), After a lengthy hearing the magistrate held the case proved, and conivicted and fined I)r. Good £2 and costs I £2 0/. "N A similar charge against Oswald K. Haigh, for furiously driving a motor on the same date, time, and place, resulted in a conviction and fine of £2 and costs £1 17/. M. Adams was proceeded against by the police for drunkenness while in charge of a horse. He was prohibited and fined %1 with costs. James Waterford, for procuring liquor for a prohibited person, -was convicted and fined .2 and costsj 5/. Alex. McDonald was proceeded against by Walter Wakeline for trespass on the latter, property, and was fined £1 with costs.
