The Prime Minister, the Farmers' Union, advised extension of the meat commandeer for another twelve months as the safest way. The Imperial Government, he said, was negotiating! with the South American republics to | renew their contracts, and lie assumed that there would be no difficulty, as far \ as Xew Zealand, was concerned. Extension of the commandeer would ease the shipping position, and he thought that by the end of another twelve months the •tores would be empty.
