REPRESSION IN IRELAND.
RAID ON A NEWSPAPER. l (Received 9.35 a.m.) * LONDON, September 18. A military party raided the office of the "Cork Examiner" .and removed essention portions of the printing machinery.. It is understood that this action was due to the paper publishing an advertisement '"fe connec tion with the Sinn Fein Republican loan.— (A. and N.Z. Cable.) TERRORIST SOCIETIES. 1 DIFFICULT TO RTTN DOWN. 1 DCBLHT, September IS. The police are having such difficulty ■in tracing the secret organisations ' responsible for the outrages in Ireland ; that it is evident that tho terrorists are • a very limited body numerically, but the fear they have inspired is very widespread. In one case a girl gave a drink of water to a dying officer, and loosened . 'his tunic. A boycott of the girl followed, . j and it was necessary to remove her to > : England. In the disaffected areas the i police barrack buildings have been . heavily sand-bagged as a precaution " against attacks. 1 S.>x armed arid masked men robbed ; the officials of the Cork lunatic asylum, ; taking £l.i>oo.
