TEXAN HURRICANE.
DEATH ROLL OF 250. TOWN DEMOLISHED. THOUSANDS HOMELESS. (By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright.) NEW YORK, September 17. Estimates of the loss of life in Texas, caused by the floods which followed a hurricane, are growing. Several small towns were demolished. Scores of people are believed to have been drowned at Robstown.
The British steamer Bayronto, C,405 tons, foundered. Some of the crew were rescued.
Three thousand persons are homeless in the town of Corpus Christi, which has been placed under martial law. — (A. and N.Z. Cable.)
