How the present system of rates operates is illustrated by charges made on a Dunedin consignment to Vancouver. It cost £-12 freight to Auckland, and £04 thence to Vancouver. The exporter contends tbat the £42 coastal freight is a handicap in favour of Auckland exporter.-.
