DOMINION CONFERENCE. (By Telegraph.—Tress Association.) WELLINGTON, tin's day. The annual Dominion conference of the | Farmers' Union opened to-day, Sir Jas. Wilson presiding. Mr. C. K. Wilson (Auckland) moved "That the pressing need of a progressive development policy be urged on -the Government, embracing amongst other tilings, the making available of unused lands of the Crown anil of native ami European owners, and by acquisition by the Crown of properties already in production which ran be acquired at prices allowing successful and closer settlement. "2. Provision and improvement of access by roads and railways and communication by mail, telegraph and telephone. "3. Review and revision of the Public. 1 Service system and administration. "4. Development of onr facilities, and encouragement of agricultural education. "5. Improvement and cheapening of the -means e>f transport, both in our internal and external trade. "6. Comprehensive development of hydro-electric power. "7. Development of harbourage where needful, and development of facilities for navigating inland waterways. "8. Protection against exploitation of our products by trusts and combines, and discouragement of holdling of land for purely speculation purposes." The motion was seconded by Mr. J. H. Joll and agreed to without discussion.
