A fire broke out in some kapok in Messrs. Macky, Logan, and Caldwell's tent and mattress factory in Lome Street this morning. The City Fire Brigade out, and the outbreak was extinguished, the damage done being very slight.
Mrs. Alice Young, ' a middle-aged woman whose home is at Tawharanui, has been admitted to the hospital. She came to town last evening, and had the misfortune to fall from a tram car in Symonds Street, sustaining injuries that necessitated her removal to the hospital.
'Samuel Valle and Sons, Ltd., will hold an auction sale at 'their -rooms, 83, Queen.
