NEW ZEALAND CHAMPIONSHIP. THE OPENING ROUNDS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.! NAPIER, this day. Tho New Zealand championship golf meeting commenced at Walohiki links today, when the first and second rounds of the open championship and amateur championships of Hawke's Bay were played. The course was in splendid order, but a strong wind was blowing, which kept scoring low. E. S. Douglas 84—S4—1CS, and T. A. Clements 89—So—IK), lead the professional, and S. Morpeth 77—81—158, 11. E. Crosse 82—82—164, K. Tareha S4—SO—l64. and H. B. Lusk 91—70—170, the amateurs.
Auckland won the Willlnms Cup, fourmen team, with a score of 340.
To-morrow the third and fourth rounds of the open championship will be'completed and the best "2 amateur scores will qualify for another championship.
