N.Z. FREEDOM LEAGUE.
The annual meeting of the New Zen*land Freedom League, the object of which is to secure the repeal of the compulsory clauses in the Defence Act, was held last night in the Friends' Meeting Hoiiflo, Mount Eden, Mr. A. Ritchie presiding. There was a small attendance. The annual report stated that the! league secured tlie co-operation of the-' Labour Representation Committee and! others in opposition to Sir James Allen's proposed to give territorials four; months' continuous camp training 1 in their first year. A commit-! tee was set up to organise a public meet-i ing, which was held later, and resulted: iv the formation of another league to* oppose the four months' training scheme. 1 The membership of the league had in-' creased considerably during the past two months, and a beginning had been made with active public work, which had fallen off in a large measure during the war period.
