FAMILY WIPED OUT.
TRAIN' STRIKES MOTOR CAR.

A Cleveland message states that all tlie members of one family—-Mr. John Tiainor, his wife, and their four sons and two daughters—were killed when a train struck their automobile.
WHISKY MUTINY.
TAEE OP THE MARISKA. LONDON, August 15. Further details of the '•whisky" mutiny on the American ship Mariska while bound from Baltimore to Brest show that the negro firemen could' not resist the temptation oilered by the thousands of casks of spirits on the vessel.
'Breaking the hatches, they filled themselves witli liquor and ran amok.
They overpowered their officers, wrecked the wireless, and bludgeoned the wireless operator, ■hut not before he had sent out S.O.S. signals.
The call of distress was picked up by tho oiiship War Khan, which sighted the Markka drifting with fires out. Nobodywas visible, and an' armed boarding party found, the decks strewn with broken whisky bottle. The mutineers wore overpowered with slight opposition, as many of them were helplessly drunk.
The 'oyal crew and officers were released, some of the latter being in irons. The captain was locked up in his cabin and bludgeoned before he could draw his gun. „
The boarding party started the firee on the Markka, and lent firemen to assist the loyalists to take the boat to Brest. SOLDIER ATHLETES. LONDON, September 1. At the army athletic championships at Aldcrshot the 100 yds race was won by Sergeant Lindsay, a New Zealander.— (A. and N.Z. Cable.)
