IRONWORKERS' DEMANDS.

A case concerning many of the iron trades of the Canterbury industrial district came before the Arbitration Court -when applications were made under the War Statutes Legislation Act for reduction of the hours of labour from 47 per week to 44 per week without a:iv re-
duction of wages, also for a new clause providing for time and a-half lieing paid tip to three hours and double time thereafter. After hearing evidence for and against the proposals, the Court reserved its decision.
