COMPULSORY UNIONISM.
CARPENTERS' AND JOINERS' DEMANDS. (By to "Star.") WELLINGTON, this day. The Hawke's Bay Carpenters* and Joiners' T'nion has tiled demands for ' consideration by the Arbitration Court, ' including a five-day week of eight hours daily, wages to be on a weekly basis, with a .£4 15/ minimum, and the casual labour rate 2/G an hour. The demands also contain a proposal for compulsory [unionism in addition to the usual prefer- > ence clause.
