CISYSTALATE CUP TOURNAMENT. Considerable enthusiasm prevails In respect to the annual competition for the ( rystalate Cup. promoted by Messrs. Alcock and Co., Ltd., which commenced last crontag, no less than sixteen competitors, including well-known amateurs and promising young players, having ontered. The first game, between Mr. F. Kurrell, an old exponent of the gnme, and Mr. J. Eiltoil. v member of the Auckland Working Men's Club, occupied the whole of last evening. A very even game was witnessed up to the 2Hrd cue. when the scores read 1517—200 In favour of Farre'l. At the -100 mark I-'ar-rell was still i:i the lead, and he went out a winner by 33 points. The competition will be continued this evening between E. Warren (the holder) and J. l-'redaeovlch. The snooker tournament promoted by .1. Payne, proprietor of the Star Saloon. Newton, Is causing n lot of Interest amongst playerp. Already a number of the best winning hazard strikers have nominated, and n reminder is given that entries close on Saturday, the 30th inst.
