PAINTERS' DISPUTE.
There is no real strike of painters, not even a partial one. The secretary of the union *.aid this morning that so far as his knowledge went tbere was only one employer paying less than 1/10 per hour, excepting where men ranked very low in craftsmanship. The secretary also stated that on Saturday he i had 30 applications for men at the 1/10 rate, and had only been nble to fill one of the i aeaneies. Thus it was evident that very few men indeed had been impelled to put tho resolution at the last union mooting into operation, although, according to Mr. Buckler, the officials of the guild had approached sundry employers to lock-out the men who refused to carry on with the job. The union will hold a meeting to-night to give further .coßsideratiou to the .position.. ~ ~..,..--. ~
