There -were only three senior hockey {James at Remuera on Saturday, the Training Collefjc team being away on vacation. The moat interesting match was the one between Mount Eden and University, a very fast and hard struggle, which ended -in a for Mount E-den by 5 goaLs to 1. College Rifles got a rather easy victory over Edendale by 4 goals lo nil, and Areta beat I'onsonby by 4 goals -to 1. The positions of the teams for the time being are:—Mount Eden 21, College Rillos 21, University It), St. Luke's 17, Somervell 13, Areta 10, Training College 10, Ponsonby 8, EdendaJe 7. UNIVERSITY V. MOUNT EDEN. Mount Eden attacked briskly from the bully, nnd reached the University circle. ,The defence was sound, however, and a I quick passing' boul up the centre of the i field placed Mount Eden on the defensive. A nice hit by Steele ensed the pressure for rousonbv. hut Richards sent them bnck again, nnd a centre by Weslwood gave White a chance to evade the circle, where Hooch stopped the shot nnd a corner resulted. Steele nnd Crnwshnw were prominent in shifting the danger, nnd n loone rush reached Areta circle, where they were compelled to corner. Arets worked the leather bnck to Ponsonby territory. A hit by Bishop gave Cooper n chance in the circle. Ponsonbv backs blocked the stroke, but Edmonds cot in a shot that reached the net An onslaught by Ponsonby got as fnr ns the Areta circle. but Ellesott momentarily stopped. From the ensuing play Aretn were cornered, and Murray . converted. At half time: Areta 1. Ponsonby 1.
