The first concert under the auspice-; . of iiie l'apakura Musical Society was lield in the Methodic Hail on Thursday, 21st. The hall was packed, ami the ex- ] eeJlent ■programme provided \va«s much unjoyod by the audience. The society was fortunate in securing the assistance of Mr. and Mrs. Cyril Towsey, and also '. Mr. Wright (baritone) and Mr. Uaxter (violinist), all from Auckland. Mrs. Towsey was listened to with wri.pt ■attention in all her numbers, and scored especially in her rendition of ''0 Mio Fernando," while Mr. Towsey was equally successful with hio piano eolos. Mrs. Crawford gained a well merteJ encore for her rendering of The Pearl Cross."'l Of the glees Ming by the society, '".lohix Peel" was easily first favourite. Mr. T. .Sea-ton. the conductor, ie to be com-1 plimented on what he i'ao achieved dur-l ing the past three months.
